Pet play is a form of roleplay where one or more participants take on characteristics of animals. Common forms include puppy play, kitten play, pony play, and many others. The other partner may take an owner/trainer role.
The appeal varies - for some it's about playfulness and shedding human complexity, others enjoy the power exchange, some appreciate the specific aesthetics and gear, and many find it allows expression of different aspects of personality.
Gear may include collars, ears, tails (often plug-based), masks or hoods, paw mitts, and themed accessories. However, pet play can be practiced with minimal or no gear as well.
Pet play communities exist with their own events, terminology, and culture. The practice ranges from occasional bedroom play to lifestyle adoption, and sexual content ranges from none to extensive depending on participants.
